Balanced Sound, Nice Build Quality, Good Aesthetics
I AM really pleased with these headphones.. I already have a pair of old Sony MDR-CD280 (cheapos), and an old pair of Sennheiser HD-580 (not so cheap).. both open backs.. I actually bought these Philips to test for my niece, to see if it will work with a record player build I'm doing, and if I didn't like them, I'd send them back, if I liked them, I was going to give them to her.. I didn't think I'd be keeping them and buying another pair for her! I like these that much. Sound profile from low to high is different than my cheap Sony phones.. more bottom end, less emphasis on the top.. more balanced.. not quite the equal of the Sennheisers in high frequencies but the Philips cost a fraction - so not really a fair comparison - you'll still get the highs and they come through sweet enough. Honestly, if I were forced to use these headphones as my main pair, I'd be happy. Good value for the performance, in my opinion. Good build quality, the leather (or pleather?) is nice and soft. I like the understated looks of these as well. Very satisfying purchase.

The long cable is perfect for watching TV
My 2 sons are sharing the room with each other and my youngest son usually sleeps early, but my older son would like to watch TV until late at night. He has a bluetooth headphone, but often times forgets to charge them. I was searching for a wired headphones with long cables and found this. I was surprised that at $39, this headphones has studio quality sound. The packaging looks nice, with the typical Philips branding. The package contains the headphone, and a 3.5mm to 1/4 adapter. Seeing the adapter gave me a hint that this headphones is for studio use. I immediately tested different genres of music, and I was right. The sound is very balanced, or let us say it is flat, this is a good thing as as you can easily customize the sound in a lot of different ways using equalizers. One thing that struck me most is how good this headphones is for watching movies. Watching movies with Dolby Atmos (only on select movies) turned on really made the experience more immersive. The ear cups is a little stiff for my liking, but it is comfortable in long periods of time. The head band is lined with soft cushion for more added comfort.Overall, this headphones serves my primary requirement of having a long cable, but having a great balanced sound is of course a very big plus. If you are looking for a great sounding wired headphones for home use (cable is 3m long), then this is definitely for you.

Decent for cost.
Nice headset. Good music quality, decent bass, decent mids, and highs. My only complaint is, like a lot of reviewers is it's tight on my head. I have been slowly stretching it apart using a pillow. It's getting more comfortable, but I still won't wear it more than a few hrs at most. For the price, the sound is good, the trade of is comfortability. My old Logitech were better, sadly they are not made any longer.

It's a hidden gem maybe, but...
These SHP6000 are competitively price compared to premium brands, they feel and sound good... And yet I'm disappointed. The sound quality feels just a bit muffled but that has happened naturally to absolutely every single pair of headphones I've ever owned; it has taken me a few days of continuous use to get used to them, and I actually expect that my headphones (regardless of them being earbuds or over-the-ear) to be bass heavy since I listen to thrash metal mostly [this is a concern for many buyers and for a good reason since mid and high tones are muffled compared to low tones, but it isn't for me]. The magnets are neodymium ones, it includes a 6.3 mm adapter, the cable is insanely long and the cushions are very soft and they swivel onto the back part of the speakers so they can fit better people's heads. On paper, these SHP6000 should have been the definitive (over-the-ear) headphone purchase for, hopefully, two years at least since I don't have the money to go for professional headphones. Yet I found them to be the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever used: since I must wear far-sighted glasses because I can't quite see anything without them, I tried them and I had to take them out 10 minutes later. The speakers pressed the part that hangs from the ear in a weird way against my head and I had to constantly move the headphones and pray for finding an appropriate position. Then I took out my glasses and tried to wear them in a different position... All of this to make my eyes hurt a lot and feeling a bit dizzy as if I was wearing glasses for the first time in my life. If you wear glasses or don't have the chance to try them on for a bit and decide for yourself, then avoid them. Full stop. All I can say is that they are very promising headphones. The specs on the Philips page are very good, it feels like it's been built properly and the sound could be everything I could expect for what I listen to [I insist: I expect bass-y headphones], but I have to warn you if you wear glasses. I have fairly big ears so I generally can't find speakers that are big enough [40 mm] anyway, but they made me feel dizzy and I hate having my eyes hurt because it's unbearable for me. At least going to bed and having them on is perfectly fine.

Comfort and sound
I just got this today and I am impressed. The cord is 12 ft long, nice. The headphones seem to "cup" your ears, a very different experience then other headphones I have had. They are light weight. Very comfortable. I plugged them into my laptop and noticed that the volume can only go so high when I am watching netflix which I thought was odd. I listened to a video on FB and same thing, could not turn it louder. Which is ok for me. So I then listened to Pandora, OH Wow!! Here you can turn it up! great surround sound, almost as though I was not wearing headphones. Very nice. I got these for when my digital piano comes because I live in an apt and I want to be able to play my piano. If I think about it, I will add to this review when I test it out on the piano.
