A Civilized Start to the Day!
A must have for anyone who appreciates brewed tea. The design is classic and elegant in an understated way. The clay used in the pot keeps the tea warmer longer and is properly weighted. Finally, The two cup size is ideal for the morning brew. It is no more difficult to brew tea in this pot than it is to stick a bag in a cup or mug. However, the tea you get from the Brown Betty pot is so much better. One sip and you'll be hooked.

New Favorite Teapot
Coming from a British family, I am keenly aware of the reputation of Brown Betty teapots. When a single serve teapot of mine started pouring more tea outside the cup than in, I took my sister's advice and ordered a small Brown Betty Teapot. The one that arrived was solidly built, perfect size, well packaged, undamaged and no issues with the glazing or color. In reading some of the reviews, I was concerned about "heating" the teapot with hot water prior to actually putting in the tea (something I learned from my parents) but thought I'd give it a shot anyway (old habits die hard). As I always have done, when the kettle boiled, I poured a bit of the water into the teapot. No cracking, no fissures and no issues.I was also reading some negative comments about the dripping and dribbling others had experienced. Given the position of the spout to the top, this shouldn't be a problem and i think I figured out what may be happening. While the teapot is advertised as holding 12oz of water, the pot can actually hold almost 16oz if filled to the very top (some reviewers were commenting they put in that much water). I found that when I overfilled the pot to more than 12oz, it did dribble from the lid. However, when I held the level at 12oz, i didn't experience any of those problems.I can honestly say that my only negative with the teapot is that the handle gets almost as hot as the body when one uses a tea cozy. Just be forewarned and prepared.

Glaze cracked first use ED: Not the second pot.
I purchased this pot to replace another Brown Betty that I had - that one I abused for a year by not warming the pot before pouring boiling water into it and it, of course, cracked the glaze. So, this one I promised myself to be better, and I was. I warmed the pot with hot tap water, let the kettle stop boiling and rest a moment, and then poured the water into the teapot just after emptying the hot tap water. The teapot was properly warm to the touch, so I expected a nice pot of tea. I did get great tasting tea, but within less than one minute I could hear the glaze cracking. This has happened every time I use the pot and now the outside (I haven't seen any inside yet) is a spiderweb of small lines. I wonder if it is because this pot is thinner than my last Betty. It gets two stars for good tea and no cracking on the inside.ed 3/14/2019: I returned my previous pot, which was easy, and was sent a new one. This one arrived a few days ago and has performed as well as I had hoped. When in use (with it warmed) you do not hear pops of the glaze cracking.

A genuine Brown Betty
I like the looks. I like the size. I like that it keeps the tea warm longer. I find it a bit difficult to lift and pour from the shape of the handle, and I wish it came with an infuser, though an entirely submersible can work.

A Classic
We purchased one of these clay tea pots while traveling in England many years ago. It has been well used, with chips in the spout and breakage of the lid. I was pleased to replace it with this model, as the tea it makes ALWAYS tastes better and stays hotter in the clay. I bought the 8 cup size as we also enjoy tea iced in the summer. Just need a matching tea cozy now!

Way too fragile - buyer beware
Beautiful, but extremely fragile. Broke after one use while handwashing it. Very heartbroken. And as much as I would like another one, I won't waste my money. I need a teapot I can use.
