SeaStar Solutions SS141xx Back Mount Rack Steering System

This replaced the 40 year old original steering system in a 20 ft center console inboard Shamrock. Had to move the helm position slightly but it installed fairly easily in a VERY tight space. Directions and template were good but template could be better. Now it feels like the power steering on a friend's 1965 Cadillac. Two months of use and all seems fine so far. When it arrived, one end of the cable had punched through the top of the box and was sticking out about 4 inches. Luckily that caused no problems.

Be careful when you put this on that you mount the steering wheel shaft in the right direction. Stupid me put it on backwards and when I took the boat to the lake, I had to steer in the opposite direction to where I wanted to go. Other than my goof up, it worked great! I miss measured the first time and had to order a second one with the correct length cable and they shipped the new one out with no problems. They were very easy to work with and treated me right.

Used this to repair a steering cable that had seized on my 1985 Sea Nymph. The original on the boat had a 11.5 foot cable length, so I had the option of either the 11 or 12 foot cable since half lengths are no longer manufactured. By my measurements the 12 foot one would have been too much excess. The 11 foot did work with some careful coaxing thankfully.Now I can steer with so much ease that only a finger is required. Was simple to install and the directions were great!

Bought this rack system for an older bass boat with a single console. Measured the cable a foot long (better than short I guess) but worked out fine. What I failed to measure was the area under the console for the rack assembly that attaches to the helm. It was wider than the old one and almost too wide to fit under the console - couldn't even angle it. Had to do a little extra drilling and re-position the hole for the helm. I would make sure your console is wide enough to fit the wider rack. Works like it should when installed.
