Modern day rulers of old school funk, the seven piece Brooklyn based juggernaut Lettuce drops their third studio album Fly- a decidedly raging slab of relentless groove, hyper charged syncopation and psychedelicized soul anthems.

Killer funk
Never heard of Lettuce until Sirius XM started playing "Madison Square" and "Ziggowatt" on Jam On (channel 29). Loved what I heard and I've been digging the '70s funk sounds of Sly and the Family Stone, Earth Wind and Fire and Funkadelic and newer bands like Soulive and Dumpstaphunk for awhile so I picked it up. This was even better than I expected. Lettuce have their chops down cold and every track here is strong. Although this is clearly a funk album, nearly each song recalls a different era of the genre. The aforementioned "Ziggowatt" and "Madison Square" are fantastic but several other songs like the hypnotic groove of the title track and "The Crusher", the more reflective "Ghost of Jupiter", and the more danceable "Jack Flask" and "Lettsanity" are just as strong. The only tune with vocals is the hard R&B that is "Do It Like You Do". All of the remaining tracks are strong with tight playing throughout and the band's version of War's "Slipping Into Darkness" is fantastic. If you love funk, buy this.

Funk to Fly by!
Lettuce has become one of my new favorite funk band! Their style reminds me of James Brown & Brass Construction! The horns remind me of Fred Wesley & Maceo Parker with so many amazing arrangements! The drums & bass keep the rhythm flowing perfectly & those guitar riffs bring back memories of 1970 funk that make me want to Fly! Lettuce get funky!

You can still get funky music
Very, very nice funky jazz, is what I would call it. Great beats. Strong, jazzy performances. Quite a change of pace from radio music.

So fly.
If you're a fan of Budos Band, Soullive, Menahan Street band, then you probably already known Lettuce. This record is great from beginning to end. Whenever I put it on, people are always asking me who it is. Even those who are n00bs to the funk. These are limited quantity, so I wouldn't miss getting your own copy while they're still available.

I didnt know there were bands that still produced this genre of music!
Multi piece, instrumental funk is a bit of a lost art I think. I love funk music and this definitely slakes my thirst for some big funky grooves. I recommend this for funk lovers and if you like dynamic music.

Excellent groupe italien, rien à redire, le funk est là,la basse est légèrement en-dessous des autres techniquement et les compos un peu longues,Mais sinon du tout bon!
