When this edger first arrived the barrel was larger than I had expected and I wondered why they it so large? After a short amount of use, I got it…..it is VERY comfortable to use, much more so than the narrow ones I have previously tried. I might edge 100-200 pieces in a sitting and this is awesome! Very comfortable in the hand, it puts on the exact right amount of dye, no dripping or excess, and LOVE that its so easy to take apart and clean…..again, that is because the barrel is large! I clean my thoroughly after each use and use a little white grease inside the top and bottom contact points and it rolls like a champ! Don’t think you can go wrong with this edger and I just don’t see it ever wearing out.

The Good:- The tip holds dye and applies it well (when it rolls smoothly)- The price was reasonable- It was instock when I needed itThe Bad:- The paint roller did not work well and kept getting stuck.TLDR: Using this was fustrating as the tip would not keep rolling smoothly which is a requirement for this tool to work well. I managed to get through the project switching between using this and cleaning/repairing my old Craftool Pro Edge Roller.Would get another Craftool Pro Edge Roller instead of this were it available when I needed it.

First off, to the people complaining about rust, the roller sticking etc. unscrew both ends. Yes it disassembles. Put a small drop of machine oil on the sealed bearing in the roller end. On the other end there is a recess for the spindle to which I put a toothpick end spot of grease and now, besides being smooth, it doesn’t utter a squeak. As has been already mentioned, but can’t be over stressed is to clean off your paint or edge coat under the tap or dip the tip in some water and use an old tooth brush to clean the roller’s fissures. Dry it well. Did I mention both ends unscrew. If it rusts, it’s your fault. As to how well it works well I can dispense with a long edge, such as on a belt or guitar strap in much less time than without it. For thick edge painting where you’d want the paint to mound up you’ll need something else. But for edge coating, it’s the bees knees.

Clean edge coats on leather goods makes a BIG difference in quality perception. I bought this to see if it would help get my edges dyed with a cleaner look. I can do better with a q-tip and it doesn't drip. I would say this tool is not worth the expense.
